There are multiple expansion projects underway in order to achieve two-way, all-day GO service (see more here) (see more here) (see more here). Since these projects have not yet been completed, the promise is partially kept.
“If you build it, they will GO. Posing for the cameras in a construction site field of dreams, Doug Ford promised Friday to extend GO Transit train service to this fast-growing community 80 kilometres east of Toronto if he’s re-elected on June 2. The Progressive Conservative leader said he would spend $730 million to add four GO Transit stations to Durham Region, extending two-way, all-day commuter rail service here.”

“The Ontario government has awarded a contract to modernize and transform the GO rail network and bring frequent, two-way, all-day service to the Greater Golden Horseshoe. The investment will generate thousands of new jobs and create economic opportunities across the region. The project will include adding over 200 kilometres of new track and electrifying over 600 kilometres of track. A new electric train fleet will also be introduced that could reach speeds of 140 kilometres per hour between stations.”

“The province and Metrolinx have released a preliminary design business case for two-way, all-day GO train service between Kitchener and Toronto.”
