2.12.18 - “A re-elected PC government will invest $425 million to increase [Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)] rates by five per cent”
10-Aug-2022
The Ford government announced that ODSP rates would increase in September 2022 but did not include this $425 million investment in the 2022 Ontario budget. As the rates have not yet risen, and there is no evidence supporting a $425m investment, this promise is considered in progress.
“Even after stating that his party would allocate $425 million for ODSP in this year’s budget, it was surprising then to see that the change was not mentioned anywhere in their whopping $198.6 billion budget for the 2022 fiscal year. Only later, after facing fire for not keeping his election promise, did Premier Ford say he will be passing the legislation as ‘quickly’ as possible.”

“To help bring relief and to help offset rising living costs for low-income families and individuals with a disability, Ontario is delivering on the government’s commitment to increase the rates for income support by five per cent beginning in September 2022 for families and persons under the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP).”
