Histoire de la promesse
1.11.11 - « [T]erminer le prolongement à Niagara »
20-avr.-2022
“METROLINX and Infrastructure Ontario have awarded a multi-billion-dollar contract for on-corridor works for the GO Transit commuter rail expansion project to ONxpress Transportation Partners, a consortium of Alstom, Aecon Group, DB International Operations and FCC Construcción. […] The consortium will design, build, operate, and maintain the new infrastructure and trains for 25 years. Alstom will supply new electric locomotives, install ERTMS Level 1 train control, a new traction power system and electrify the network at 25kV ac. Alstom will also upgrade GO Transit existing fleet of double-deck coaches supplied by Bombardier Transportation, signalling, telecommunications, and other digital equipment.”

L’expansion de Niagara GO en est toujours au stade de la planification. La promesse reste donc en cours.
“Niagara will see 11 GO trains daily to and from Niagara. That is the conclusion from an update from Metrolinx, the agency which oversees public transportation in the Greater Toronto and Golden Horseshoe area. Metrolinx recently provided Niagara with an update on the its initial business case for expanded GO service in Niagara. The update recommends a service pattern that is to include six outbound trains from Niagara Falls to Union Station and five trains inbound from Union Station to Niagara Falls seven days a week. The report said the schedule will reduce travel time from Toronto to Niagara Falls 15 minutes to 45 minutes over current train-bus services.”
