1.04.004 - “[We] will not increase existing taxes during [our] mandate”

Since the Ford government came into power, taxable income brackets have been adjusted, but the provincial tax burden on Ontarians has not increased. In his throne speech, marking the start of a new legislative session in October 2021, Premier Ford asserted that the province’s post-pandemic economic recovery would be fuelled by growth, “not spending cuts or tax hikes.” Moreover, the 2022 Ontario Budget does not include an increase in taxes.
