The government plans to use these investments to electrify individual transport. However, these investments do not appear to be aimed at electrifying public transport.
“The Quebec government is stepping up its efforts to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and plans to invest $3.8 billion over the next five years to accelerate the electrification of transportation, particularly light vehicles, and to reduce the role of the “solo car” in favor of other, more sustainable modes of travel. [With these measures, Quebec is giving itself the means to have the most electrified and least polluting vehicle fleet in North America. […] The government has also earmarked additional investments to promote the electrification of heavy vehicles. Funding for the Écocamionnage program has been increased by $82.5 million, and support for the electrification of intercity and private buses has been increased by $13.5 million.” (Translation)”
