Follow-up will be done at a distance, with home visits as needed. Of course, parents will have to meet specific criteria and give their consent to benefit from home hospitalization. 2.12.16 - “A re-elected CAQ government promises] the creation of a new concept of private medical centers. […] These new centers […] will fill the need for an intermediate service between a family medicine group (FMG) and the hospital for patients who need care but do not necessarily have to go to the emergency room. Each center will include the following services, among others: [a]n FMG open 7 days a week, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; 24-hour emergency rooms that can handle minor or low-priority cases; [o]perating rooms for day surgeries; [a] technical platform with a pharmacy, specimen collection center and radiology, etc. […] Two centers will be built, one in the east end of Montreal and one in Quebec City. […] These local services, developed and managed by the private sector, will reduce the pressure on hospitals and ensure access to quality front-line services that are completely free for the population [because they are reimbursed by the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ)].”
