Promise History
3.12.05 - “A re-elected Liberal government will […] [l]aunch a $1 billion COVID-19 Proof of Vaccination Fund to support provinces and territories who implement a requirement for proof of vaccine credentials in their jurisdiction for non-essential businesses and public spaces.”
14-Feb-2024
The promise is partially fulfilled, as the fund proposes a sum of $300 million and not 1 billion.
“Since the summer of 2021, the Government of Canada has collaborated with provinces and territories to develop a Canadian COVID-19 proof of vaccination. This proof of vaccination provides people vaccinated in Canada with a simple, consistent way to demonstrate their COVID-19 vaccination history. This approach continues to support Canadians travelling internationally. // The federal government has committed to supporting provinces and territories through the COVID-19 Proof of Vaccination Fund. Money was set aside in the 2021 Economic and Fiscal Update. This $300 million fund.”
