“The Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) has announced a financing agreement with Parkland Corporation (Parkland), a North American convenience and fuel retailer. The up to $210 million financing agreement, positions Parkland to strategically expand its electric vehicle (EV) charging network in communities across Canada. The agreement paves the way for the installation of up to 2,000 new charging ports at up to 400 sites and represents the CIB’s second investment under its Charging and Hydrogen Refuelling Infrastructure (CHRI) initiative.”

“Today, the Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of National Defence, on behalf of the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Natural Resources, announced a more than $53,000 investment in Geotab Inc. to install 11 Level 2 EV chargers in Oakville and nine in Kitchener, Ontario, which are now available for use. Geotab Inc. has also matched the funding amount, bringing the total project cost to over $106,000.”

“The availability of public charging and refuelling infrastructure is a recognized barrier to ZEV adoption across Canada. As of August 2022, there were approximately 22,000 public chargers and six hydrogen refuelling stations installed in Canada, which is significantly less than the forecasted needs to support ZEV adoption.”

“Budget 2022 announces that the Canada Infrastructure Bank will invest $500 million in large-scale urban and commercial ZEV charging and refuelling infrastructure. Funding will be sourced from the Canada Infrastructure Bank’s existing resources under its green infrastructure investment priority area.”
